fast walking for LSD

I feel like the worlds biggest candyass for asking this. But I can't jog w/ o getting severe shin splints. For my LSD workouts when I can't get tot the gym can I walk fast outside for like an hour or so? Can't believe im asking this. I still like my HIIT better than this slow long stuff.

Run On Grass!!!

as long as your walking fast i would say yes, its not as good but better than nothing. It may still affect your shin splits walking for a long period of time so you may want to bike, elipitcal etc. exclusivly for awhile to heal up.

Walking might actually be more worthwhile than you think, especially if you keep up the speed. It's a less efficient way of moving than running (which exercise-wise is a good thing), builds endurance and will certainly help toughen the lower legs against shin splints (which you shouldn't have anyway because you should wear pimp shoes like Asics and RUN ON GRASS). So IMO, walking combined with HIIT and maybe the occasional mid-distance run should see your cardio develop nicely.

but seriously, i would buy a bike. the faster you walk, the more you look like a tool imo.

you could also find some active senior citizens and take your powerwalking to the local mall to avoid the problematic weather outside... i'm sure alot of other guys who train hard do the same thing.

excellent, thanks for theinput folks, the walking idea was short live, I was doing my LSD work, and looked up and 2 women were pushing their kids in a stroller, I thought I was gonna puke and sprinted back to my house. If I can't make it to the gym for elliptical LSD then I'll just adjust my Jump rope to fit for 35 straight minutes.
