Facets of Fitness
Why is it when doing cardio, for some reason, it's harder on some days than it is on others?
Last week I did my usual cardio session 3 times and finnished them all quite strongly, only to begin a fresh week and struggle on the first one??
Now, I know this can be down to contributory factors i.e overtraining, energy levels, how you are that day etc but on some days I cannot fathom why on one day, it's no problem, on another, I'm struggling. Then you get the rarer days of completing the session with heaps to spare???........... any idea folks?

I don't have an answer, but I hate it when you have one of those really shitty days after a really good day.

You can't go hard with your cardio every day. For example you can run five miles every day in 40 minutes if you are in relatively good shape, but if the fastest you can run five miles is 30 minutes, you cannot expect to go out there everyday and be able to run that fast.
The same is true for most of your exercises. You can do technique work everyday, but if you go hard everyday, you will get burned out.
After you have a shitty cardio day, that is your body telling you something and I would just go home, eat and hydrate and try to come back stonger in a couple of days.

You have high standards do you not lol..... I'm doin nowhere near that and I'm more than relatively fit I also do some HIIT also which may help alot. I don't really mean clocking up best times as I rarely time myself but what you say is true of course, listen to your body. The thing is, I've been training for years, tweaking routines to try and find my magic formula, listening to my body etc I'm still finding it difficult. I think a hard day followed by a not so hard day is a good start and refreshing for the mind also.

Sleep is by far the greatest determinant IMO. Even if I'm feeling fully rested and alert, if I haven't been getting optimum amounts of sleep over the previous few nights, I'm fucked.

Proper diet and rest.
If you are getting enough of both you should continue to improve.
Try changing up your workout after about 6 weeks.
My crappy days always follow insufficient rest or a poor quality meal.

^ agree 100% Routine also helps a lot, but as previously stated can burn you out.. I buy caffeine tabs 200 mg tabs I usually take half of one before I start cardio & it really helps me get in that space to move even on the days that drag on.

I'm all natural baby lol. The thing is, my diet is good and my shifts allow me to get plenty of sleep so that said, I do believe there is more at play in what contributes to an off day. The body has alot of sytems that could contribute to this, could be an overworked nervous system?
