Exercise Bikes

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting an exercise bike this winter as a "supplement" for my cardio when it is really cold, snowing etc..

The thing is, I have a limited budget(I'd prefer under $200 but I could probably got somewhere around $250 if necessary) and know nothing about exercise bikes.

I don't know whether recumbent or upright is best, nor anything really.

All I need is a bike I can use to work my cardio, I don't really need anything fancy like heart rate monitors or computer screen programs etc..

If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it.

Here are some bikes I am currently looking at

I'm gonna be honest, a new exercise bike that costs under $250 will probably be sub par .

I bought a mid-ranged one for around 700 bucks. I prefer upright bikes.

yeah. and if u can try before you buy. you gotta sit on the thing for a while you need to be sure its comfortable.

I hate exercise bikes. much rather go out for a ride but it's starting to hit the wet season here so im sure it will get some use. *sigh*

I'll never understand recumbant exercise bikes, you're already sitting on your ass with an upright bike, there's no need for you to have to lean back and relax.

What's next? A padded horizontal bike where you lay down?

And an electric starter, for those really tough days.

I have a proform ...ahem....recumbant bike that I got at sears. It wasn't too expensive...maybe $250 or so on sale. I use it about 1.5 hours a day about 3-5 days a week. Now that winter is here...I'll be using it more.

It's magnetic or whatever and has a few different settings for hard workouts and such. I like it...it seems to have held up well over the year I've had it. One thing that sucks is it takes D cell batteries to change the tension...so I have to change them about once a month or so. Other than that...I can't complain about it.

I would definitely go sit on some bikes. They are ALL different. I didn't intend to get a recum, but after sitting on a ton of them for many weeks (I swear the people at sears thought they were on candid camera or something...I would go in there and ride each bike for like ten mins for two weeks straight) anyway, the bike I bought was one that felt the best.
