Energy help for biking?

Hey all, what supplement or food/bar would you recommend for high energy for biking? Is powerbar gel or whatever even worth it or should I get something else? I want to start biking but burn out quickly and need something to keep me going.

any info would be great,
thanks

Don't be greedy and post the thread once and wait for a response

It sounds like you need more conditioning/pacing yourself

What type of bike riding are you going to be doing?

When I ride I pick a cadence that I'm comfortable with, say 80-100 RPM, and keep things within that range. When I go up or down a hill I shift gears to maintain that rythm.

I'm into longer distance bike rides [150+ miles per day] and I never use energy bars etc. I actually pick my bike route so that I'm able to stop at gas stations every 15-20 miles. [sooner on hot days]

At every stop I just drink the contents of my water bottle, refill, and eat an apple or some fruit that I buy at the store. I've maintaned that pace for 14 hours...

Jesus, you can go 150+ miles on fruits and water? Hats off, man.

I'm a pretty avid mountain biker, and in my camelbak I pack nuts/trail mix, a banana and/or apple, and some jerky depending how long and intense the ride is going to be. Throw in whatever you like!

Works for me...

hey thanks guys, I just discovered that is an amazing bike trail along a reservoir only about 2 miles from me and I rode across this freeway to get to it, it was the best workout i've ever had. Before I went I had oatmeal to carb up a bit and about half way through I got really nauseas and had to lay on the ground so that I wouldn't throw up lol. After drinking out of my camelbak I recovered and finished the trail and then headed back with no problem, basically I need fuel/snacks that won't give me this upset gag reaction. Nuts seem good though. I also hated how my camelbak water went warm because it was scorching hot.. will stuffing one of those ice packs in it help much?

thanks fellas
