Duathlon or Triathlon anyone?

I've started training for a duathlon in April recently so I could have a competitive time.. These events seem to be an interesting way to test my conditioning.. I was just wondering if anyone has ever competed in a du or tri? Care to share your experiences/training?

did triathalons quite a while ago. since i was young and more of a runner than anything else, my training regiment wouldn't be anything I'd highly recommend, but if this is your first race, really getting a handle on the bike/run transition would definitely be the #1 thing I'd recommend practicing.

You need to spend some time just getting the volume of training up. For at least the first three months, you should try to build up to working out for at least an hour a day.

After that, you can start to build in some interval work.

I would also suggest you go to triathlon websites and look for information there.

Oh I know.. I've been looking at some good sites, specifically beginnertriathlete, trifuel, bikeforums, slowtwitch, & of course the dualthon and triathlon main websites.

Elevate- I've heard the bike/run transition is "different" for first time triathletes so that will be something I'll focus on... I've heard bricks were a great way to train.. run/bike bike/run kinda stuff

The one I'm competing in is a sprint ..

Anyone else?
