Dot Dot Drill Mats

I recently made my own Dot Dot Drill Mat out of spare rubber, spray paint, and a cardboard cut out of the patern.

Does anybody know what drills that will have a factor on striking?

Intocombat's Circuit Training for Boxing dvd has a few drills on it, I haven't had chance to try them but can describe them for you.

1. Basically hopping round the outside dots in a U shape.

where X is your foot obviously.

2. Starting with your feet on two corner dots along one side, hop forward so both feet are on the centre dot and then forward again so both feet are on the opposite sides corners. Go backwards to starting postion and repeat.

They dont mention any particualr instructions from what I remember, however by watching the vidoe I would say that foot speed is import (obviously) and also the height of the jumps are small (feet barely seem to leave the floor)

Hope this helps.

I doubt there's any sport specific drills on the Stroops mat. Nothing you're doing really resembles the movements you make with your feet in a boxing match.

Any drills will work: what you've learned for football, basketball, whatever. The point it to drill a combination of speed, coordination, and flexibility: the prerequisites of agility.

#1 is where you jump around the 4 corners to complete a circle
this help build up your core and rotation strength
#2 drill is almost like hopscoth. feet apart then together on the middle dot then back apart again on the 2nd set of dots
this helps with speed and balance

you can also do 1 leg hops
or anything really these mats are very versitle
