Does coffee effect cardio?

Anyone know if coffee is bad for your conditioning?

Coffee is not good for your body, which will eventually be bad.

But, for a quick fix, caffeine is actually shown to increase performance.

As with anything, use sparingly.

I drink a crap load of coffee and I run distances from 16 miles to really hard sprint and HIITs and it's never bothered me. Sometimes I like to drink a small cup right before if I feel a little sluggish to help wake me up.

Coffee is actually good for you. Too much is bad though.

Just wait till you don't get your coffee, you'll be too tired to do shit. Caffeine is a stimulant the more you take it the more your body will respond with the opposite effect. So basically caffeine stimulates, the more you take it the more your body will compensate by being "sluggish" to the point where you'll need coffee just to be at normal again. This is of course if you drink it quite often and this pretty much applies to everything addictive in nature.

Zop, you're right. I drink coffee not for the pick me up, but just to function like a normal human. It sucks. I need to taper off a bit. But again, I don't think it has ever affected my training in either a good or bad way.

Its out of your system in 2 weeks and you reset after about a month of not drinking it (the month thing is a lie, I have no idea to be honest)

But yeah, the boys right. If you take too much for too long it will overload your body, but thankfully caffeine isn't too bad to flush out of your system

Not quite.

Coffee is an excellent source of antioxidants, stimulates gastric motility, and has been proven in countless studies to decrease the chances of numerous cancers along with decreasing the risk of diabetes.

To the OT: Caffeine is a proven safe and effective ergogenic; it increases beta stimulation and decreases the perception of fatigue and discomfort.

What you need to do is experiment and find what dose works for you. I'd also suggest searching the D&S forums, as there'll be more threads on this topic.
