Does anyone have this problem

So i ran 10Kilometers today and when i got home my inner thigh started to hurt really bad, so when i went to go look at it i there was a huge rash that was bleeding a bit.

it seems every time i run i get this problem, all i wanna know is their anyway to lose the weight around my legs, or should i just suck it up and keep running.

It could be your shorts. I'm not kidding when I tell you this. I have heard heavier people who run vaseline their inner thighs. As far as weight loss, you can't lose from one area. If you eat less and move more, the extra activity is fueled by body fat and that's how you'll get leaner over time throughout you're entire body.

^^^Agree. you cant spot burn fat. If you keep exercising you will drop lbs. over your entire body.

Do you do strength training as well?

I call it "shaffing" and it's caused from your inner thighs and shorts rubbing together for a long period of time in a rapid motion. Prevent it by applying a medium amount of Vaseline between your inner thighs and some baby power too. It may feel weird but it works. I used that method in Cali and now here in Thailand.

I get the same thing when I wear a certain pair of shorts, makes it a nightmare to finish a long run sometimes. Which is why i only wear those shorts for lifting.

How is it caused : They say the major contribution to chafing is from sweating and rubbing. Many of us consider that chafing is a signal that it is time to lose weight, however even the skinniest eprsons can experience the same problem. Chafing generally takes place around the groin, underarms and nipples, but it can occur anywhere.

Prevention: Prevention of chafing falls into four categories: try to stay dry, keep hydrated, using a lubricant and wear the proper clothing. Lubrication before walking with petroleum jelly or an anti-chafing product such as Body Glide or Runner's Lube.

Try to stay dry: Go light on the deodorant roll-on as this can lead to a stickier situation. Use talcum powder, cornstarch or potato starch to stay dry, if absolutely necessary. If all else fails consider using a lubricant.

Hydration: Always drink lots of water during the day, keep hydrated during training and make sure you drink sufficient after exercise. This will assist you in perspiring freely so that the remanants don't dry into salt crystals which will make the possibility of chafing higher.

Lubrication: While exercising all kinds of lubricants are used to keep the skin areas sliding past each other instead of rubbing raw. Petroleum jelly, bag balm and udder cream are the longtime favourites. Make sure the lubricants are petroleum-free and non-staining. They can also be used on your feet and toes, in attempt to avoid blisters.

Clothing: Loose clothes may feel good on the trail, but to prevent chafing you need a snug fit. Bike shorts are designed to give a skin tight fit that will prevent chafing and are excellent if your trouble is in the lower body or thigh area. For the upper body, polypropylene or lycra tops that fit skin tight will do the trick. Also avoid wearing new clothes on a long run, during a hard session [ where the intensity is higher ] or race.

Treatment: Once you are chafed, treat the area like an open wound. Wash and clean with antiseptic to prevent infection and cover with a sterile gauze pad that allows the area to breathe until it is healed.

The worst chafe is the nipple area: There is nothing worse than trying to recover from chaffed nipples, as they stay tender for long after and the chance of them bleeding reoccurring is high. This affects both men and women.

Prevention: As above concentrate on using antichafing lubrication. Use fabrics that can deliver moisture from the skin to the outer layer .. the key word being 'sweat-wicking'. It is advisable for women to wear sweat-wicking sports bras. And if necessary wear plaster over nipples during your exercise.

All this may seem slightly 'over the top', but you will understand if you ever become a member of the CNS - the 'chafed nipple society', they can be seen wearing their distingushed badge of red on their tops.

Take heed and avoid the chafing dilemma.
Hope this helps.

Baby powder and vaseline saved my life even before I took up running. I used to get very bad chaffing on the inner thighs even from martial arts training ( espec. when wearing a cup).
Keep it dry, keep it smooth. Parts of your body will rub, you cant help that and yyou dont want to change your body shape just to accomodate running. Im not sure from your post iif by losing weight from your legs you mean muscle or fat, if its fat sure youw ant to lose it but I guess that why you are running anyway ( see above though - you cant spot lose fat) ..if its muscle then are you wanting scarifice that? Maybe your build doesnt suit your style or youre a weight class above where you want to be but thats a whole different question to worrying about rubbing.
You could also look at your gear here. A pair of tight undershorts (possibly compression gear) of a flexible smooth material ( general rule of thumb .. more you pay the better it is) could help, that way its the material thats rubbing against material and this is not moving against the flesh with a rough surface. Grappling trunks should be fine too, if you can wrestle in them for 2 hours you should be fine to run in them for 40 minutes.
If youre getting rubbing on your feet, or as the above artcle says nipples ..the worst, i'd recomend applying some surgical tap over the affected areas prior to setting off. Even the thin layer makes a massive difference in protection.
When I run serious distance nowI always apply foot powder, vaseline, tape on the feet with a thin undersock and a thicker (but not thick) morino wool sock (sounds hot but its very cushioning and breathable ...expensive but the best sock material bar none for keeping your foot dry and happy). Powder my whole body ( to dry it off) and vaseline the inner thigh, butt crack and armpits and tape the nipples. Not even crossed my mind how gay this is.
I've gone from bleeding horror after a my first 10k run a few years ago to completing a 100km hill race this year without any open sores devloping or even serious blisters. Hurt in every other way conceivable and I would in no way condone or encourage this type of behaviour, but at least I got the bleeding thighs sorted.
