Do the Dutch emphasize pad work in their workouts?
I know in Thailand (and at the Muay Thai gym I train at in America), the big emphasis is on pad work (which I like).
But I once trained at a Dutch-style Muay Thai gym around here, and the teacher said that the Dutch mostly do counters and sparring in their workouts. The only time they do pad work is when they get ready for a fight.
Is this true? If so, that really sucks. Pad work is what gets me motivated to train, and I always do that right when I'm warmed up...and then I spar right after. Never before. It's only after I've hit pads that I'm loose enough to spar.
