cutting weight for jui jitsu tournament

I need to loose roughly 8 pounds in 2 weeks. I was wondering any tips anyone might have. Also i hear a good way to loose weight is to cut the sodium out of your diet. What are some good no or low sodium foods.. i know to avoid salt, sauces ect ect. other then that im gonna try doing sprints a couple days a week.. Worse comes to worse ill jump in the sauna the morning before my fight.

I weigh around 199 and I need to weigh in with my gi on at 195 im 6'2 and i have 10.5% body fat.

Any advice you might have would be helpful

thanks!

That should be a snip, cut your food down, drop your carbs, only drink the same amount of fluid you piss out. 30 mins extra cardio a day for the 2 weeks, bit of saunaing - take your pick!

low sodium foods do help, but watching the food intake is the best way to keep your weight normal, and Low/No Carb food will help alot when you stop eating them
ie: bread,pasta,cereal

And of course running and/or sauna are the quickest way to lose water weight

I recently cut from 187 down to 170 for a same day event and it sucked! A couple of hints weigh in in a light weight gi and then swap it out for your comp gi later if wearing a gi is a must at weigh ins...also see if your weight class is filling up...I know I cut down to 170 so I could fight 170 advanced and then noone showed up for that class....I ended up fighting 205 advanced and thats A real wake up call! If I had have known noone was going to fight at 170 I could have stayed at 187 and been closer! As for the weight loss If its a same day event (weigh in then fight) lower your food intake and increase your cardio (to cut I added 4 45 minute runs a week into my regimen on top of everything else) Dont try and do it that morning by suana and no water intake as this can lead to muscle weakness and cramping...you should ideally be within a pound or two the night before.

thanks for the tips guys. I like the swapping the gi out idea. There is about an hour between weigh ins and competition. I figure it will be longer considering no martial art even ever starts on time. Worse comes to worse ill cut like 3-4 pounds that morning
