I just started jumping rope for cardio cause it got too cold to run and ice makes it slippery. Takes a bit to get used to and fall into rythm, but gives a great workout. But you can keep increasing speed and get a good cardio everytime. Check http://www.rosstraining.com for rope skills. I got all my info from there.

I love jumping rope for cardio, its a great variation to do and can be quite fun. I don't do it as often as I should but I think it is a good way to work on your conditioning when mixed in with other workouts.

I love skipping but I have to limit it to 10 mins 3 times a week. It gives me shin splint like nothing else!

Its a good way to incorporate cardio especially to add some quickness. whether you like it or not find some music with a beat, like techno or salsa music. itll help you keep pace and rhythem

If you're looking for good quality exercises with home made equipment at budget prices, Ross's site is for you. He's used to be a boxer and uses mostly home made equipment or gives you ideas to build it. Best of all I like his policy "Exercise must be short and intense". The stuff on his site is pure gold, has videos and best of all, its all free.
cheers.

jumping rope is a great way to get in shape and to develop foot speed. Heavy ropes can also work the upper body.

If you really want to hurt, tie a rope to two folding chairs, pull it tight, and jump back and forth. Focus on exploding up. Combine with sprint for maximum pain.
