Conditioning Help for a NEWB!!!

This is my first post on this board. I am new to all of the MMA game. Used to box when I was little, but turned to basketball, baseball, and football. Since graduating high school 5 years ago, and playing college basketball for 2 years, my shape and conditioning has deteriated quickly. I am now 6'4" 230 lbs. My ideal weight would be around 210 where I could still be bulky, but also slimmed down quite a bit. I have no time table to lose this weight however. My question is, What is a good running program to use in order to obtain this weight? With the advice of this forum, I'm hoping not to have to consult a nutritionist. Also, what is a good starting heavy bag workout. I haven't hit the bag in about 10 years, but am looking to getting back into it. What is a good way to get this going with time, or reptitions? Any help you guys could give me would be great. Thanks!!!!

HIIT works very well for cardiovascular conditioning and shedding fat:

I currently do 3 x 15 minute HIIT sessions a week and 2 x 3 mile runs averaging 7 minutes a mile. I've been able to shed 55 pounds in roughly 4 months with this routine.

Also try Bas's Thai boxing CD if you want to incorporate knees and kicks. Good workout. It kicks my ass.

I liked Ross Training. Today, which was my first day for an out of shape piece of shit, and went 3 2 min hard rounds. Plus 100 reps with my jab and my right. Arms are burning and I'm enjoying it. Still looking for a good Cardio workout that includes both running and agility. Also, if anyone can propose some sort of diet or a supplement that will give me some energy to continue working out 5 or 6 days a week. Like I said before, I'm a newbie to all this shit. Thanks for the help so far guys!!!

All these suggstions are great ie. sprints, HIITs, and what not. But I think most would agree that one of the biggest factors in shedding fat is diet. Even if you're workout regime is nuts but your diet is shit, you drop weight as much as combining a good strength and conditioning regiment with sensible eating. What is your diet like now?
