Clean Cardio

Bodybuilding.com - Marc Lobliner - Clean Cardio!

Opinions? Thinking about throwing in one session per week of the High Sets/Low Reps protocol.

15-20 sets of 3 reps seems like an awefully long time

and I remember Cosgrove saying high reps isnt good for you.

Id do the 15-20 sets with something like squats in between, or add it to a complex, etc.
Waiting 20 times after 3 reps isnt really cardio imo.

"That's where Clean Cardio comes in. Gone are the days of slaving over the treadmill!"

I don't agree with that quote. This program looks better to increase anaerobic capacity and a little muscular endurance than targeting the cardiovascular system. Just as I do not run sprints to increase my max leg strength, why would you use lifting to work on your heart?

This is induce concentric hypertrophy, but not eccentric hypertrophy that is what LSD is for.

I think this is a bad idea.
1- Weren`t you getting into plyos/complex training? It`s not just about doing one thing at a time, it`s also that explosivity and endurance happen at the expense of one another so I don`t know how effective it would be to train both at the same time.
2- You want cardio? Run, swim, do burpees, sprints, sled draggin, circuit training... but weights are really NOT an efficient tool to develop cardio.
3- Cleans are a technical lift. As you start building up reps and sets fatigue sets in and your technique goes out of the window. The result can`t be good can it?

To the TS: what are your goals? This looks like it's basically HIIT using hang cleans. There's better ways to do HIIT (like paolo suggested) and hang cleans don't offer some magic solution.

Good points. I agree.
