Cardio without running

Long story short, I used to be in amazing shape. ~5% body fat. I was a pretty hardcore skater and did that for hours upon hours every day.

Fast forward 10 years... I stopped skating and picked up martial arts... I did some pretty intense kung fu training for ~6 years. But te past 2-3 years I have been working 60+ hours a week with basically ZERO excercise. I had to stop MA due to work and other things.

I have lost a lot of muscle, gained body fat, and just have no endurance now.

I want to get back in top shape, but running is not pretty much out of the question. During my skating days I suffered a severe hip injury that just doesn't allow me to run for long distances. I can do some sprints, but it really irritates my hip.

So what are my options from getting off the couch and back into top shape at this point?

i would suggest swimming above all else for an overall workout. although you get a lot more out of swimming with proper form and stroke technique, then say, using an elliptical, stationary bike, or rowing machine.

anything is better than nothing, so long as you dont injure yourself further.

I had a broken foot and I was training for a big fight about 4 months ago and I did a 15 lb weight cut and got in great shape with out running at all. I substatuted 15 minute rounds on the heavy bag, swimming and conditioning work like, 7 push ups, 7 situps, 7 squats and 7 burpies, doing that as fast as I could for rounds. I also did alot of other conditioning but thats just a rough outline of what I did.
