Calf pain when running

Basically, whenever I run for a bit, my calves tense up and they're in pain. I weigh 140 at 5'8'', but I have what people call "chicken legs" meaning they're thin, but my calves are pretty much muscle and no fat. Is there anyway for me to relieve this pain? When I run/jog around the block, my calves stiffen and has that burning sensation (lactic acid buildup) and it discourages me from running.

Thanks in adavance.

are you just starting out? if so most muscles in your legs are going to hurt for a little while

dynamic stretching is the best plan. try using some stairs to do calf extensions on, just stretch for a second or 2 at the bottom of each rep, do enough till your calves feel warmed up. Cold muscles cramp easy

shoes? go to a running shop and have them watch your gait and see what shoes fit you best.

I use to have the same problem and it can be very disheartening, all you need to do is before you start running is warm up for ten minutes (cycling, or power walking) and then stretch the muscles in the leg, I don't mean a small stretch holding it only for 3-5 seconds but a long stretch, stretching and holding the stretch for thirty seconds, and then release.
I use to have the same problem but once i started stretching properly I didn't feel any pain.

good luck

dont do that stretch where you push against the wall and isolate your calves... i have found that it makes it worse..

Stretching, proper fitting and supporting shoes, proper hydration and also paying attention to how your feet hit when you run could help this.
