Burpee Tabata's

Are kicking my ass.

I'm starting out around 8 for the first few sets, then it drops down to 7 and by the last one 6, with some really piss poor jumps in between i should add. Not great, but I'm not in great shape. Yet to vomit, but teh dizziness/zoned out feeling 20 minutes after you've finished is there alright.

Anyway I've read all the articles that say doing this 3x a week should whip you into shape, but 12 minutes a week exercise? I have a hard time believing that. anyone doing more than one set a day?

I'm thinking I could handle two maybe three a day, with enough gaps to rest obviously. I know a lot of you guys mix in other stuff as well, but I don't have much time or money for gyms so i'm trying to maximise efficiency, thoughts?

I think you would be best sticking with one set, 3x a week, and just put as much effort into them as possible. Then instead of more tabata intervals, do somthing that will build some muscle. If you don't have any weights, there are plenty of bodyweight exercies to do - press ups, squats/pistols, pull ups/chins, etc...

Dude, Sonny what happened to Brando? How will kids know about the greatest actor who ever lived (besides Pacino) if they don't see his pic in your Av?

I add LSD work 2 or 3 times a week along with Tabata Burpees.

jerryseinfeld, you are missing the point with Tabata intervals. They are designed to SMASH you! Basically the strain on the body caused by such high intensity exercise causes a lift in the bodies metabolic rate. In the 4 minutes you are training for you are not burning any fat but througout the rest of the day the rise in your metabolic rate is burning fat.

Tabatas leave me with burning lungs and very fatigued they are a very tough form of H.I.I.T. The two hardest ways I have found to do them is with sprints or hill sprints (you need a long hill for tabata hillsprints)

my goals are to lose weight and get in shape a bit more. i'm 185 now at 5'10, want to be maybe 170.

so seeing as they help burn fat for the rest of the day would you suggest doing them in the morning? and maybe add doing more sets of press ups or long runs?
