Bulging disc recovery help

About 10 months ago I got a bulging disc from training in martial arts. Since I have stopped doing martial arts and in the past couple months ismarted up and started going to the gym. I feel much better, but there is a "knot" there when I don't do anything for a couple of days. I want to train again and know I'll be more careful, but I don't want to make it worse. So how do fighters deal with this? I rememberhearing Tito Ortiz having a bulging disc during his fight with Forest. What am I doing wrong?

(iwas relatively new at ma and from bad form and over training I believed caused the injury. For about 2 weeks I had pain going down my leg which is a sign of a serious problem, but its been 9 months since I have felt that.)

i had a bulging l5s1 disc and was bad enough i had to have surgery and then reinjured it 7months later the best rehab i have found is to go to a physical therapy clinic and have them do traction. go to your chiropractor regularly and getting a massage to break up the scar tissue built up in there really helps alot. also (strengthen your core as much as possible)

supplement wise for the pain i take alot of vitamin c, glucosamine chondroitin(sp?), aloe vera juice, and also take a joint relief supplement mhp makes a very good one called releve.

just my 2 cents

i actually have a 3 in pc pipe and will lay on it and roll around it loosens my back alot (uncomfortable but actually increases flexibility also i did it alot when i was powerlifting)

i also bend over at the waist grab behind my knees and arch my back(like a cat)

another one that help is when i lay down on my back and put my feet on the ground behind my head (I KNOW ALL THESE SOUND WIERD )

If u have a stability ball i just lay on mine for a while and rock back and forth

I lie on my back and lift my right leg in the air then lower it down over the left side of my body keeping my leg straight. I hold that for 30 seconds then switch and do the other side. I do this 2 or 3 times a day or when my lower back feels tight.

At the gym I go on the ab machine for about 20 reps then switch to leg raises until failure. "hyperextentions" for my lower back.

I'm going to try rolling on the pvc pipe. Sounds like a good idea, thanks

I'm aware the advice I get here is not a substitute from professional assessment. Thanks for your concern.

But any rehab tips or ideas are appreciated.

I have a similar problem L5S1 and it hurts like hell sometimes. I have pain down both legs and extreme tightness. What I do to help is 600mg Ib, yoga (the stretching is awesome and it is a decent time). Also, I bought an inversion table - it is great and helps with the leg pain.
