breathing strips?

Wasn't too sure where to post this but it does have to do with cardio so I thought this would be the best place. When I played football in high school we use to wear breathing strips on our noses. You know the strips that go on the bridge of your nose that pulls up and creates a much better air flow and breathing ability. How come fighters never wear them? They really do help, and gassing is an issue with all fighters. So why wouldn't fighters where them? I don't see any danger in wearing them and if you get hit in the nose and they fall off, well who cares, it falls off, no big deal. Are they illegal in competition or something?

They aren't permitted in a fight. I've seen fighters enter with them before, but the ref removes it during the check.

I've never used one during cardio myself, but I would like to try. I labour under the curse of diminutive nostrils.

me three. I was born 12 weeks premature. I have 15% nasal air flow of a normal adult (according to my doctor). that means big time mouth breathing....

Damn, I never even thought of that. I need to try this because I can't breathe for shit through my nose and breathing through my mouth gives me a sore throat.

I sat with a ring side doctor at a boxing match and asked him the same thing (he serves as an advisor to the commision) and he mentioned something about them being punched off and causing an eye injury. May be same in mma.
