Biking to work

hey guys I might be landing a job much closer to where I work (it is about 2-2.5 miles) and figure i could probably just bike to work everyday.

I was wondering, do you guys think this would be good for me and my conditioning? I don't want it to start cutting into my roadwork but i don't know if maybe the biking plus the roadwork would be too much or not.

Im training to compete in boxing so keep that in mind i suppose.

So do you think biking would help or hurt my conditioning as a supplement to my current conditioning regiment?

Not pretty sure, depends on the pace and how hard you do for conditioning.

2.5 miles on a bike is what, 8-9minutes? Really it`s not going to do anything.

That's hardly enough to get much benefit. Change clothes after work and just keep going for another 30-40 minutes before heading home and you'll knock out a little cardio and hardly notice the loss of that little time in the evening.

You are close enough that you could run to work, that is an option. Unless you are doing sprint intervals, you will not get much benefit out of a 2 mile bike ride. But on those days, if you were doing no other exercise, getting a 2 mile bike ride is better than driving and doing nothing.

It isn't a big distance and I don't think it will hurt your conditioning as far as overtraining goes. Total round trip of roughly five miles will burn some calories and save on wear and tear on your vehicle. Short miles on vehicles are always harder on them. You'll save some gas money also, so why not give it a go.

It won't hurt your conditioning so if you want to go for it.

i ride to work. Its about 2.5 miles and takes about 10 minutes. the first month i did this i lost about 10-12 pounds. My legs are all cut up and much stronger now.

keep in mind this is 5 miles a day. in a 5 day week that 25 miles in a week, it can add up better then nothing at all.
