Best cardio workout is a distance hike in the military with 120 lbs of gear. The longest hike my unit did was about 18 miles. This of course is wearing ICBs, a flak jacket with sappy plates, deuce gear, full canteens, a sally pack, a day pack, a kevlar, and your weapon. I was a SAW gunner so I carried her around with me. We would stop about every 3 miles for a couple of minutes to change socks and drink water. The whole thing took about 6 hours. It is one of the best combinations of strength/endurance that someone can do I think.
