Beginner
I just began training for mma and I need some advice. What are the most important things to focus on when beginning ones career in mma. I'm a 26 year old married, father of two with a full time day job and no extra money to join a team or gym. All my training will be down with a couple of my firends who will act as coaches and from research that I do on techniques, exercieses, drills, etc.
As of now I split my training between muay thai, bjj, western boxing and strength and conditioning. I work out 6 days a week and eat very well. I don't take any supplements except creatine ethyl ester. I have limited equipment but I do have two heavy bags and a set of gloves to spar with. Any advice would be greatly appreciated or some sites where I can get training clips or ideas for workouts.

Sorry bud hate to be a Debbie downer but without an experienced coach, proper instruction, descent sparring & rolling partners, and some disposable income your kinda F'ed if you plan on competing. Just trying to look out for you before you pour a lot of time and effort into doing some back yard training only to get hurt.
Suggestions if your short on cash*

I don't think I asked how or why I couldn't do it. I asked for advice in my situation on what would be the best approach.
I'm not so stupid as to think I have the same chance as someone with experienced coaches and a good gym, but all the same I'm going to give it a try.
I've always wanted to be a fighter and I've always exceled at sports so I'll give my dream a go. I don't need some dumbass to come on here and dash those hopes to make himself feel like more of a "trained" fighter. But if you insist you can come over and go down on ME and I'll even call you Debbie if you're into that, bitch.

Well you technically asked for "any advice" and he gave you some. I'd say go for it, heart/drive can get you pretty far. Will you end up in the UFC, probably not, but if you get a more of a sense of self out of being a bit tougher go for it.
Read the FAQ's here in the forums, there's a lot of useful shit in them, then post with specific questions in the appropriate forums and you'll get better responses.
My 2 cents for ya; drop a little $$ on Bas Ruttens workout and fighting CD's, they'll murder you in no time as far as conditioning goes.

you need to lose the attitude, the TUFGUY approach is really lame
if you go online, to a forum where anybody in the world can respond with whatever they want, and ask a question like that, don't be so upset if you don't get the answer you want
my advice? drop the $ spent on creatine and buy some books or dvd's at the very least

You are an idiot and you won't make it very far with your "dream". He was giving you his honest opinion. And he is right...

Good luck, even if you don't have a coach you will still have a punchers chance. Your still better to have a coach and people to spar and roll with. You need people better then you to improve also or you'll get to a certain point and level off.

Look around your area to see if anyone does free classes: usually guys that meet in public parks for free are good. For example, a guy does free Danzan Ryu jujutsu around my area.
The problem is, without a coach or someone knowledgeable in the sport, you won't know what you're doing wrong. You might *think* you're doing well, but in actuality you could be learning with all kinds of mistakes. At the very least I would recommend taking lessons once a month (you should be able to scrape the money together for this).
+1 on reading the stickies. Also, don't ask questions like this in the S&P forum, you might end up banned.

Dude
Calm down quit trying to be such a Billy Bad Ass online I wasn't trying to crush your dream. I'm just saying MMA is a contact sport and as such you can get hurt really bad if you don't have the propper instruction. Also, I did give you suggestions on how you could follow your "Dream" if you bothered to read further.
