Is Bas MMA Workout HIIT?

I'm replacing two low intensity cardio sessions with two HIIT sessions per week. I'm mixing up the HIIT workouts for variety in my previously-boring-routine workouts. So are Bas MMA workouts HIIT? I plan on doing them with 2lb weights. If they are HIIT then I'll be doing the Bas MMA workout once a week. Thanks.

Do you mean you'll be shadowboxing with weights on your hands, if so stop, it's abloody bad idea that'll wreck your elbows and do nothing for your striking power.

Are they hiit, hmm. well it depends on the definition of hiit you use, they are high intensity and have intervals, but whatever they're certainly a great way to help your cardio.

I'm doing it for speed and fighting endurance but I wasn't aware of it wrecking your elbows. Can anybody corroborate this?

Think about it the path of resistance is straight downwards, the only thing you get in terms of resistance in the path of the strike is inertial force. It also teaches you to strike slowly, not a good idea. You want to make your strikes stronger, start lifting heavy to make your body stronger and then spend some time obn the heavy bag. Remember you fight like you train, teaching your body to punch slowly fighting a downwards resistance ain't great as ideas go.

The elbow thing comes form the fact they'll be soaking up the momentum of the weight and this can also lead to an increased risk of overextension when tired.

I don't think I could define my life as high intensity...

I'd wear some 10oz gloves or something.
You (well, at my weight class) tend to always wear 10's, so might as well get used to them
