Anyone have stress fractures?

I got stress fractures in my left shin last August, but I kept on training on it until about February when it was diagnosed, but now its at the point where I can't even walk on it. How long has it taken to heal with some rest for you guys?

Stress fractures in my legs was a big reason I got kicked out of the army. To be honest, I still can't have a regular jogging routine or else it fucks my legs up again; and I got kicked out 4 and a half years ago.

took me about a month to repair from some bad shin splints (too much jump rope at a balouted 190LB) turns out it was only extreamly overworked muscles, but damn did it suck

I had a stress fracture in my foot from running on a hard track with shitty football cleats when I played football. I try to avoid jogging at all and don't walk on concrete or other hard surfaces when I can help it. I also wear flip-flops unless boots are required for working. If I wear sneakers and stand for hours on end, my foot gets sore where it was fractured and I limp a bit.

my cousin flew out of the BUD/S navy seal training because of stress fractures. just take it easy. DON'T OVERDO IT!!!!!!! go see a physicianand have it checked out, maybe parts of your shins aren't thick enough.....an x-ray could show...

I've suffered from them several times in my life. Always kept training untill it was too painful to walk. Then I had to take several months off. If you balance rest and training properly, dont ask me how I just guessed untill it didnt hurt anymore, your shins will heal stronger. Take a calcium supplement too.
Stress fractures are often a result of sedientary modern lifestyle. How often to we drive compared to walking, sit on our asses at work and such? Our legs have become weak because we take for granted that we arent on out feet as much as out ancestors. Basically your just going to hard too soon. If you have to take a break from hard training, just be careful, take some short walks everyday while recovering.

I got them in cross country in high school and was out of all running for 2 years, and then tried to get back into it after that, but they recurred a few times. I ran on them, not knowning what it was, for 3 weeks, which made it so much worse. They have caused a lot of other long term problems with my feet and knees that still affect me to this day (about 7 years later).

I had stress fractures really bad about 6 months ago. What it was was over worked musces in front of my shin then actually started tearing off the bone as well. I was stupid when it started hurtung I just ignored the pain and it went from sore muscles to stress fractures to torn muscles and I ended up having to take a long time off not doing much at all. I still feel it when I do certain things, I just make sure I am always wearing proper shoes, and working in decent conditions (level ground). But just to say if you have pain check it out and don't ignore the pain it could get worse.
