Any Suggestions For A Rookie

Ok Have Boxing Experience And Some Muy Thai Experience. I Want To Learn Bj, Judo &/or Some Wrestling Moves. Im Out Of Shape Right Now And I Have To Take A Shit Load Of Pounds Off. Do You Guys Think That Those Instructional Videos Would Help Somewhat for Self Training Purposes? And If So Which Ones Do You Recommend? Im Interested Im Participating In MMA. However I Dont Have Any Fights Under My Belt. All I Have Is The Sparring Experience In Boxing And Some Kickboxing. I Have A Heavy Hand And People That I Went Full Force With Usually Didnt Come Back. So How Would I Be Able To Get My Foot Into MMA Having No Ameatur Experience Just The Sparring Under My Belt. Any Suggestions?

Go to a MMA gym that participates in local matches/tournements. Train hard and regularly. Get to the point where you and the coach feel you're ready, then worry about finding a MMA event appropriate for you level.

If you have no experience in bjj, judo or grappling of any kind, I don't recommend learning basics from tapes. Get live instruction. Tapes are great to brush up on existing techniques or pick up some new moves once you have the basics down.

If you are looking to get 'in shape' and want a taped program, Bas Rutten's set keeps showing up in response to this type of question.

You stole my answer..!

The Bas cds and dvd is good stuff - boxing, thai boxing and mma workouts - the mma conditioning workout is especially taxing.

I admit, I laughed when you caught that typo.

Anyway, the Bas Rutten stuff is supposed to be awesome but I haven't been able to pony up the dough yet.
