Ankle weight use suggestions?

From what I'm hearing, ankle weights seem to be a bad idea for pretty much everything; running, kicking etc.

I have a velcro pair that I bought years ago (although I don't remember why), and rather than toss them out or use them as book-ends, I thought I'd see if anyone had any suggestions or ideas for getting use out of them.

Thanks in advance.

Depending on how heavy they are you can use them for pullups, leglifts, and other ab things.

I put mine on my barbell/chinup bar just to fatten up the grip for grip strength. It makes it really thick and really hard to grab. I also sometimes used to wear them under my pants and stick my legs straight out while sitting in class at my desk in highschool isometrically but stopped when people kept asking me WTF I was doing.

Tie a rope about 10 feel long around them and swing them in a circle over your head. It will pull on your abs and core.

Perhaps shadowboxing while paying close attention to maintain good form?

Would that not have the same ill effect on my wrists, as it would on my ankles/knees if I were wearing them on my legs?

You could put them on your wrists and do something like this for shoulder conditioning...

I wouldn't do "real" shadowboxing as the added weight will throw off your timing and it would be hard on your shoulders.

Awesome video, thanks. I will definitely be doing those, maybe the same days as pull-ups to keep it balanced out like he says.
