3 miles in <21 minutes, in 3 months

do you think its a possible time frame for someone who runs 2 miles in 16 minutes , currently? not only is this a mile increase , but a minute decrease on mile run times, is 3 months an adequate amount of time to make this leap? the reason i ask is that i sort of made a bet with my friend to see who can make this goal before the other one, before 2009. thanks in adv

someone in reasonable shape that does not ever run could manage that with 2 months of dedicated training.

I wouldnt even bother starting with 2 miles. Get your body used to 3 miles first, and with repition your time will get better for sure.

3 months is a long time to get in shape. Usually guys I train with use a 7 week program.

I agree with this. It's very achievable. I've been running lots recently and my times have shot down.
