25 Mile Hike Day Before Competition

Sunday I have an amateur kickboxing bout. The problem is the day before I have a 25 mile hike that I cannot back out of. It's not an option to call in a rain check. I was just wondering if I take the pace easy and pack the proper nutrition, will it still affect my performance the next day? And how bad? Any advice? Thinking of jumping in the ice bath when I get home.

My coach said he likes his fighter to have 2-3 full days of rest before a fight.

Damn't. Thank you for the reply, at least I know what I am looking forward to. I am just going to try and stay positive. Its one of those things where a negative mind can do more damage than the actual problem.

Yeah, but optimistic, but it's not a ideal situation. Even just walking for 25 miles on level ground would drain you.

Just get your head down, get it down and mong out as much as possible afterwards.

I have excellent news.

The weather is supposed to be close to 90 degrees so the hike has been shortened to five miles. There are kids hiking with us so we don't want them passing out.

Five miles shouldn't be to bad?

BTW Ian I am stealing the phrase: Mong out.

Just out of curiosity, WTF kind of group are you hiking with that won't let you leave even though you have a freaking fight the next day? They must be scary bunch of dudes.

I can only guess that you're in the mlitary? If so, you know the deal on a hike: Foot care, hydrate, carbs, foot care, hydrate, stretch!!!!! Oh and eat some carbs and stretch too
