2 mile run time
Sup fellas, I am currently running 2 miles at 25:00 and the terrain is pretty hilly. I think I can knock 5 minutes off of it if I do LSD for a whole other mile before I even start all out running. I'm so much looser on the second mile. I'm trying to cut this time down to at least 17:00. Any tips? I've been doing very fast paced walk, then running at a decent stride until im gassed again. I just repeat this over and over till I finish these 2 miles. What can I do to increase my time? Any good tips?

i'm not much of a long distance runner, but what has helped me in the past was incorporating sprints. it really helped my endurance

I don't think tabata sprints help, though. Something like 30:60s maybe?

sprints helped me too, especially hill sprints. Unless you're training to be an ultra-long distance runner why not mix it up and try get good at both sprints and lsd?

400 and 800m intervals will help your 2 mile time a lot

If you don't feel like throwing up at the end of the 2 miles you aren't running fast enough. Don't walk, Jog and sprint.

I agree with Juan.
Forget the speed work and just work up to completing the distance without stopping. If you're gassing, then you're running too fast. If you can run the distance straight, you'll see your time improve. Simple as that.

I just ran the 2 mile again today.
About 2 minutes into my first mile I got so fed up with the near 20 MPH of wind blowing through the valley and directly into me I slammed my water bottle on the road and it exploded into a bunch of pieces(Good job dumbass, now you dont got water.). The wind burnt me out badly, and I was originally expecting a good run today. Well heres more.
I walked around in circles with my head down in frustration in anger like a retard as the wind was blowing into me nudging me over a little.
So to make a longer story shorter I regained my composure and walked my dumbass briskly along my way further into my run, woods were along both sides of the road just another 50 yards up from where I originall spazzed out at.
I soldiered on and the wind was finally DONE to a marginal degree. I ran at a medium jog like pace with no water bottle and a fucking temper, but I went nonstop to the 1 mile mark and back home, leaving me with about a 22:00 2 mile run. The first mile was 12:25 and the second mile was an amazing for me, 11:00.
Moral of the story is, a select few of you guys are definently right, a jog pace and just increase it, my idea of a 'RUN' is an all out knees to the waist the entire time full length stride the entire time, when it reality my time seems to be getting even better like this. 9:00 mile in no time baby! Thanks dudes and thanks for reading.
PS. Fuck wind, and no it wasnt blowing to my back on the way back either.
