155 or 170...??

I would definitely consider myself a true 'tweener. My current weight is about 163. My natural weight range is between 160 and 165. When I do feel I am ready to compete in tournaments, I'm really not sure if I should fight at 155 or 170. If I cut to 155, I sometimes feel a little weak. However if I fight at 170, it is very difficult for me to bulk up to maintain that weight and match the strength of natural Welterweights. Any suggestions as to which weight-class would be more beneficial to fight in? Thanks.

155, youve bearly got any weight to lose at 163. thats actually alot lower weight than most people who compete in combat sports maintain when thier in the 155 division.
Are you actually training to fight, or just wondering where you thought you would be, your trainer should be able to tell you what weight class youd be in.

well just from what you said it sounds like 155 would be the best for you.

KK is really good at knowing what weight people should fight at. It would help to know things like your height, BF, etc. as their important in determining the right weight class, even knowing them, build, strength etc should also be factored in.

i'd do 155 since it's a small cut for you, and the more you do it the more comfortable you'll be at that weight and the less weak you'll feel

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm actually 6' with about 4% body fat. So my weight is actually spread out pretty good. Most people in class don't believe me when I tell them I'm only about 165 lbs. I've got broad shoulders, a long reach and long legs. I do hope to compete within a year of training if my instructor feels I'm ready. Most of my grappling partners are usually in the middleweight to light heavyweight range, which helps me work more on my technique and not so much strength.
