Waterbury on stuff

TMUSCLE.com | 30 Things Waterbury Said

I don't always agree with Chad, in fact i find I disagree a lot with some of his articles, but I think this particular bit contains some insight on some of the struggles a good trainer has to deal with. we all like to laugh at the guys who get their ace certs out of a 4 hour course, but for the people who want to make a good living and a career out of that job, it's a hell of task.

I'm constantly in shock over how malevolent people can be when you recommend an alternative to what they're doing. They take it very, very personal. Most people don't want change; they want justification for what they're currently doing.
That was an apt way of putting it.

Quite an interesting read, bar the awful anaconda and "Huge in a Hurry" plug.

Read it when it first came out. I thought it was an okay article, but I didn't know what to think about this:

Are there any trainers out there who have their clients rest three minutes between sets? I haven't seen any. Yet I keep seeing three-minute rest periods prescribed across the Internet. I can't imagine what a paying client must think while they're sitting around for three minutes straight.

EDIT: I guess it depends what he means. If he means people should rest for only a minute I'd say that's a pretty dumb comment. If he means that you should be doing something else during rest (like a dynamic stretch or activation drill) then it seems like solid advice.

Probably that people are showing up to the gym, paying someone a truck load of money to train them and then are spending 50 / 60% of the training hour sitting doing nothing, and by doing so are going to be dissapointed and probably not return for more sessions, thus, hurting your training business.

I read this last night. I thought the part about women being intimidated by him when he as larger was funny.

Maybe... now I know it's crazy... but MAYBE somebody could write him for clarification on such matters?

I rest 3 minutes between heavy singles. it goes by faster than most people think, and a lot of the "no way bra, that's way too much rest!" crowd will stand around and talk about how empowering anal sex is for 5 minutes between sets while their towel is draped over their bench.
