Taking time off for exams?

With uni finals right around the corner, I was planning to take some time off of the gym so I can really focus on school. However, would it be wise to go an extended period (I am thinking around 10 days) without hitting the weights?

P.S: I was also hoping this would be a time to heal some nagging back and elbow injuries.

If you are healing, that's good. Working out will help clear your mind and reduce stress as well as increase blood activity in the brain. Even if you only do some light shit, stay with it.

Definetely dont let school be an excuse to miss workouts. Even if you lift twice a week for 30 or 40 minutes youll be able to maintain or improve a bit. 1-1.5 hours lifting per week leaves you with approximately 166.5 hours left in the week to take care of other shit.

If your taking a week off to rest some nagging injuries thats another deal.

I would lift but that is me. Lifting is relaxing to me and helps get rid of the stress from work/school.

2-3 hours a week lifting isn't taking away that much from studying.

Which school do you go to?

The gym here is open about 15 hours a day. I take about 1.5 hours to work out (including transportation). There is still lots of time for studying in between.

I'm in the same boat. I find its way easier to make a weekly schedule a couple of weeks in advance with a breakdown of what you're going to study and when. From there i'll just find the best time to workout without compromising studying.

*goes off to study parametric calculus and figure out new 5 rm*

EDIT: for those in ontario im at McMaster for Molecular Bio

you got some good habits. that would never work for me. I was the type who couldn't really study for a final unles i cramed 2 days so i'd miss 3 weeks of lifting with some weekend work here and there. I pretty much lived at thode or the tim hortons on main st.

how is the new gym.... i use to workout at the old pulse and that was a fine gym (had about 4 racks). I miss the days of having a gym membership for 80 bucks for the entire year.

Thode is pretty much my home away from home right now leading up to exams, and that place really needs an update. It probably hasn't changed since you've been there, complete with that weird ass orange carpeting. O well, the little old librarians still give us free coffee during exams which is cool.

The new pulse is really good. It still has the 4 racks, but has 2 of these bad boys now http://us.commercial.lifefitness.com...heavydutyracks which are really helpful for oly lifting, not that too many people even use them for that. There's also a bunch of squash courts, a new cardio gallery upstairs, rock climbing wall, and a large track upstairs. The curl monkey's are still abound, but theres a whole bunch of these new age weirdos now too who just use the bosu balls for meditation like right in the middle of the gym. They're also building a new stadium but funding has been messed up for a while so its been delayed a few times already.

What did you graduate with?

I find studying physics interesting, especially just reading about quantum physics, but as soon as I start doing actual calculations about wave mechanics and what not my brain shuts down. I've got a friend who's considering it but isn't too sure because he's not too sure what he could do afterwards with the degree. What are your tentative plans?
