Alright well you do what works for you, and I guess hell do what works for him and we can see who winds up ahead lol.

if someone is a better athlete than you and they workout differently than you, wouldnt you think "hmm I wonder why they're doing that" as opposed to saying "they dont know what theyre doing"

Obviously the dude is doing something right. I mean hes a monster.

Maybe he should start training with you lol.

Maybe NFL strength and training coaches should be fired (the ones who use machines) and be replaced by sherdoggers. When will they learn?!?!

It has been said on numerous occasions that NFL / Collegiate strength coaches are not always the best at what they do, but often are the best at selling ideas to coaches and programmes.

It is also fairly common to hear about a player or team adopting a new training system and for the next year to see a huge list of injured players and under performance from the team.

Everything works to some extent, not everything works well.

Many people succeed in spite of their training style.

I wondered about this too, then I found out Troy had spent years and years developing his strength with traditional compound movements. I'm pretty sure thats what made him the beast he is, not doing fucking squats on balance boards with a 10lb weight holding onto a pole.

Tony Polamalu was a supremely good athlete before he started doing that stuff.

It's a case of athletes suceeding in spite of their training not because of it. If a professional athlete trained by juggling poodles while jumping through rings of fire, would you think that it was a good way to train?

There is a mountain of evidence linking weightlifting to increased speed and vertical as well as better health in general.

I tend to agree with this.

I just find it ignorant to say somebody doesnt know what theyre doing after only watching a 3 minute clip of him in the gym.

I also agree that NFL strength and conditioning coaches may not be the best people for their jobs. But I disagree that avg Sherdog SnP posters would be better candidates.

Its just that a lot of posters seem to imply that they know more about strength training than the pros because they have heard about a 5x5 system and/or the trainer is doing something foreign to them.

thats all. end of rant. (btw I squat so dont get too mad at me )

Heres my problem with this line of thinking:

1. If an athlete like Troy Polamalu goes on the record and says he squats, deadlifts, OHP etc you will say "Troy is a so strong and explosive because he works out the right way"

2. If an athlete like Troy Polamalu goes on the record and says he does things that you dont agree with then you will say "Troy has success despite training incorrectly".

Also saying that he is having success despite his training implies that you know more about training for his sport than he does. Do you really think he would be a better NFL player if you were training him instead of his current group of people?
