Squat form check action.

Apparently this is a trend I didn't know about. This is my day 1 weight doing starting strength. Thoughts?

I can't really judge because the light in the background shines on your back with the white shirt I can't really make any comment. I'll leave it to the more experienced lifters to help.

Didn't like the looking down on the squats though.

Good luck

i think the looking down is just right. the cue Rip uses is 'hold a tennis ball under your chin'. you are just right.

now just increase the weight. it looks too light for you.

Looks pretty good, tips:
-your knees are drifting a little forward, focus on sitting back, this will help with both bending forward and depth
-I do look down when I squat, but not as far as you.
-Looks like you could use more hip drive, really drive into the imaginary lingerie model in front of you

These are minor corrections, otherwise you look good.

I know where you're coming from... years ago I had a personal trainer tell me to keep my head up to keep my back straight. I even passed this misinformation on to other people I trained with...

But when I found this site and started paying attention to technique more, I stopped looking up and my squat really improved. When you look up you tend to lift more with your chest and lose the hip drive. Check on youtube and try to find any experienced powerlifter with his head up... you won't.
