So I ve bought me some grippers
Now I need a good routine. High reps low reps? How many sets? Negatives? Do you need to close the thing so that the two handles touch eachother? Because that is really hard to do, but thats the purpose right?

Yes. closing them means touching the two handles together. what do you have, what can you close, and how close are you on the next gripper?

I came across a Gripmaster the other day. Said it was better than the traditional grippers because you could isolate individual fingers. Anyone here used one of these or would recommend it over the traditional "v" style grips?

They're garbage. Almost usefull if you're a musician, but still incredibly inferior to other methods. If you get a good torsion spring gripper (like Beefbuilders, Captains of crush, heavygrips, or any of a dozen companies that have sprung up) or even an extension spring gripper (ivanko supergripper or devil's advocate) you'll develop better, more applicable crushing hand strength. If you want to do individual fingers, use a pinch block or something similar.

Urban, since we're on the subject, how do you like your Ivanko Supergripper? I was considering buying a set of those HeavyGrips grippers, but this seems like a much better investment since it is adjustable by such small increments.
Thanks.

even though you didnt ask me, ill respond:
I like it, but I didnt get the Devil's Advocate (its the ISG with round knurled handles), just the regular ISG. I dont like the handles much. Other than that its pretty fun, but a different feeling. Basically theyre both apples, but ones a braeburn and ones a cameo: both delicious but different.

Thanks for the reply. I did see PDA's Devil's Advocate but I don't know if I would like to spend that much. The ISG seems like a great value, at only around $25. How bad are the handles? Are they too thin? Also how has your progress been on the ISG?
Thanks.

I like it. Contrary to what most people warned me about, training with my ISG HAS carried over to training with my COC's. I do light ISG work throughout the day (a 90 lb setting for sets of five grease the groove style, ESP right as I wake up), and my cut, clamped gripper feels much easier now, I can close it almost every time I pick it up with my right hand. It's nice not to have my grip feel weak for a couple days from a the heavy sessions I used to do. Once a week I'll pick up a heavy gripper and play with it, but that's about it.
BTW, I said 90 lbs, but I can close a super master (like a 2.3-2.4) and can only max 120 on the ISG.
It may also be more specific towards things you actually need crushing grip for, the elongated handles and smaller angle more closely resembles pliers or dykes... but most people who get into grip training aren't doing it to better grip things with a pair of channel locks, so I'd say this trait is negligable.
edit- also if I could figure out how to take off a spring or two (mine has three) I might be able to use it for training 2-3 fingers at a time.
Also, as far as problems with the handle, it's smooth, and so as it get sweaty it needs to be toweled off, and as it gets oily, you'll have to wipe it down with some rubbing alcohol or something. additionally there's some sideways play in it, so as youg grip down it's going to drift to the side a bit. But really so far I think the ISG is underrated. Certainly get some grippers if you don't have some (cause they're a standard by which you can compare yourself to others) but the ISG is a very usefull grip tool. However if you can afford it, get the devil's advocate, it's probably even better.
