S&P forum finally got me

During school I didnt have much time to lift, so I did the 2 day split from the faq just to preserve strength. Doing this has given me some of the best gains of my life. over the past 4 months, i have bought a sledgehammer and can bring it down to chin level at 3/4 the way down the handle. I have an 80lb coc gripper and a #1 gripper (I can close the #1 10 times and hold it shut for at least 20 seconds, should I buy the #1.5 or the #2 next?) I just couldnt resist trying this stuff after reading about it so much on this forum.

I just bought this book:

I want to switch to an oly lift oriented workout, but I'm gonna make sure to include weighted chins, BP and weighted sit ups. I'm going to emulate the USA weightlifting routine. Does that sound solid? Also, is it feasable to teach myself these lifts with the book and some videos, or is that dangerous? I am in a small town now, and I can't find a coach.

Just thought you all should know you have brought yet one more person over to the light.

I'd go with the #2 gripper myself. And I'm sure you could teach yourself the lifts, but it would be difficult to judge your own form. You might want to stick to the power version of them. But hey, I'm just talking out of my ass. Welcome to the dark side!

awesome! i haven't been able to find a coach for oly lifts either, so i've been relegated to doing them how I *think* is the right way.

If you can shut a gripper for reps it's too easy to be your main training tool for crsu hgrip and you need a tougher one. Keep working with the hammer and after you've spent a while with it, you might want to look into steel bending.
