Rib injury

I recently competed in the Gracie Worlds in LA. Let me just say it was a great tournament. Anyhow, in my first fight, which I won by triangle choke, i tore the cartilage in my rib and now there is popping in that area. I was just curious to see if any of you have experienced this injury and what you did for treatment. It's now been two weeks and the pain hasn't gone away. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

The pain will probably last for another good 3-4 weeks, but the intensity will decline. Only time will help you recover, don't think there is any other short cut than that, sorry

Yep like most rib injuries i'm pretty sure there is nothing you can do about it but rest and be careful about aggravating your rib. I popped my cartilege around teh beginning of the month, and it is just now feeling good. All you need is time my freind.

Did mine in the same exact way about four weeks ago. rib now feels fine and has stopped popping in and out but my abs on that side feel like they're being stretched or strained in a weird way at times. Usually when doing twisting movements.

I completely dislocated a rib about 4 months ago. It healed out of place during recovery from knee surgery and is now strong but still dislocated.

About 10 days ago I popped the same rib out on the other side. You could see it popping in and out as I would breathe. The key to these injuries is to get them to heal in the right place. I had a Dr set my rib back to the original location this time. The healing process is going much faster.

My advice, get it set back into the correct place if its still out, then rest. It will get better.
