Quick Bent over row question

What is a good Bent over row? Im setting up some goals for myself and im not sure how they should fall in relation to other lifts. Is it not uncommon for someone with a 300 bench to be able to Bent over row 275? At first thought I would think a BOR should surpass ones bench press, Im just not sure.

Huh I've never thought about that before. I always just viewed BOR as an accessory lift so I never paid attention to my max or anything like that.

But now that you bring it up that would be really interesting to see what percentage of your bench is a typical BOR.

I bench more than I can for a BOR but it's not a huge difference.

Edit: it should also depend on how bent over your bent over row is and how much you use your hips.

I just benched 250 for 5x5 and do 5x5 strict rows with around 200 lbs.

rckvl, you make a good point. May be to many variables to get a good answer.

When doing barbell BORs, I usually try to do about what I did on bench, weight and set-rep wise, although I could do more. It depends on how strict your row is. I tend to use more leg drive and lower back on latter sets and reps than at the start.

I've dropped barbell rows in favor of high rep DB rows for the time being, though.

Glenn Pendlay wrote about how the strongest row he saw was ed coan pendlay rowing 500lbs keeping his back horizontal, and the only other person he's heard of was ronnie coleman, who did 500lbs but had his back nearly vertical.
