If your program is pretty solid, then why did you ask for stuff to do. I'm still not understanding the difference between the type of plyometrics your talking about, and regular, all plyo are based on form, sorry, i'm just a little slow on the uptake today
Where did I ask for stuff to do for Boxing?

I asked Keith if he did any aesthetic plyometrics to be able to walk on his hands for as far as he could. Then gave a bit of background information.

Plyometrics are defined as: a type of exercise using explosive movements to develop muscular power, esp. bounding, hopping, and jumping

Most of them are usually directly related to whatever sports the person is attempting to succeed in. Plyometric exercises typical to Boxing usually differ from those typical for say...baseball, or tennis.

Aesthetic ones would be ones that don't directly pertain to any specific sport. I gave Capoeira training as an example, taking the plyometrics that are involved in that Art, they don't directly correlate to Boxing. The movement is completely different, and not really viable to Boxing. They do, however, increase muscular power, rythm, and agility. Agility is something I think is very under-utilized in Boxing, so I am fascinated with doing things that do not directly lend to better Boxing per se, to have good agility for Boxing.

i understand what plyometrics are, i teach kids in them all the time. Sorry for my confusion, you asked Keight about plyos, and mentioned your about to go pro in boxing, so i assumed you were looking for boxing related plyo. What weight class you fight in?

How about riding the mustache?

That shoulder roll thing works for some people really well (James Toney). However, I see far too many kids trying to be Mayweather with that shit, then they just get popped in the face. Like anything else it looks good and works very well, but it must be learned!

Agreed. There are drills that help with how to use it properly, using a double-end bag like no one really uses it. Directly putting yourself in the line-of-fire. You also have to have very good peripheral vision, as the style is mostly based on line-of-sight. Adaptation, quick reflexes, strong balance, all are necessary.

A lot of kids mess up the style though. Like they lean forward and stick their chin out...dumb. They keep the lead-hand either too low or too far out....dumb. There's things you just can and can't do. They also fight like girls when under pressure. You can't do that either. Using this style means you're GOING to be in danger if someone corners you, you just can't panic, and have to let the mechanics of it do the work.

I been doing it for quite sometime.

I hope you don't teach kids grammar, or how to spell.

+1 for Keith's mustache hair. I heard that you can hang 4 plates off a single whisker. Their is nothing weak about the man. My hat is off to Keith's whiskers. My pubes pale in comparison.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen another post from him since this thread. It would be such a shame to lose his contributions over some immature remarks.
