Almost everyone who goes there, with the exception of maybe a dozen or so legitimate lifters, just walks on the treadmills and keeps to themselves. On most any day I can walk in and find peace and solitude in my corner of the gym where the squat rack and power rack resides. No one bothers me, no one complains, I get my lifts done.
Fast forward a mere four days to June 2nd. I'm driving down this serene road in my VW Jetta, listening to my music, and getting all amped up for some heavy squatting. I round the last corner as my gym comes into view; all is well. Wait! I look up ahead and do not see the red, white, and blue beacon of hope that is the World Gym sign. Instead, waving gingerly in the breeze like the flag of a gay pirate ship is the purple and yellow banner of planet fitness!
I park my car and begin walking briskly towards the door. Fearing the worse I begin praying to the gods of heavy lifting and recite Beradi's habits as if they were the rosary. I swipe my card and push past the herd of fat ladies lurking around the front desk. I cross my fingers and look towards my beloved corner. What do I see? Of course not my power rack. Looming in the distance, mocking me, is a barney the fucking dinosaur purple SMITH MACHINE!

What are the gyms hours and time zone. I'll post this on /b/ and /fit/ boards on 4chan, and they'll be flooded with calls about squats and battletoads.

I have a idea.
Imagine if you will.....
Every S&Pr that can arrives at the same planet fitness at the same time, either paying for a day pass or employing the strategies of Keith Wassung to get in free. Those that have them wear their St. Wilhelm's gear. Everyone that has them brings: chains, belts, chalk, bands, blobs, boards...etc.
As one we begin to squat, bench, dl, and perform oly lifts, in a cloud of chalk, grunting to our hearts content.
Perhaps bring in boom boxes to blast ****l over the blaring of the klaxon.
The goal being to set off the "lunk alarm" as many times as we can.
On our way out making sure to employ the methods of revenge shared in this thread.
This certainly brings a smile to my face...

This has crossed my mind and I talked about it with my friend. I should wear my church shirt and film it, it would be awesome.

Don't know if this has been posted yet

I actually used a friends guest pass to the one in Danvers, MA. I had the "lunk alarm" sounded on me for deadlifting.

That question could easily be answered by leaving an 80 lbs dumbell on the hood of his car.

I wait several minutes while talking to another kid who has similar questions. Finally, a short, average built guy walks over, talks briefly to the girl at the counter, and begins addressing the kid standing next to me.
Manager: You can't get a refund, you signed a contract and we are only offering limited refunds.
Kid: Um....I heard you would have only machines and no weights over 75lbs.
Manager: Can you lift more than 75lbs.
Me: Excuse me? Is this how you address all your customers; in a condescending manner? Do you just treat younger people this way hoping to bully them into a membership?

That sucks about your gym but props to you for standing up to that jerk. Most people would just stand there with their tail between their legs. There is a Planet Fitness 1/4 a mile from were I live and when I jog past all I see is that purple smith crap you descibe. Just rows and rows of them. If it is possible try to get your own gym. It is cheaper in the long run. If price is a factor just do as I did and buy little by little. It took me 2 years to get all the equipment but I am glad I did. I can listen to whatever music I want and do not have to worry about sweat or wait for others. Soem benches and also sepersate to becoem a power rack like mine. It was on sale at Sears for $50. Soem kid was going to get it but he got a Bo Flex instead so I got the last one. I can do incline benches and sqat. Look for sales around CHristams. You could not pay me to go to Planet Fitness.

On that note, I would like to say I bought some Muscle Milk from massnutrition.com a few months back and have been getting spam from them ever since. Their is no way to unsubscribe in the email or on the website and the one time I was able to call the guy said to email support who haven't gotten back to my 2 emails.
I'm going to post a thread about this in D&S as soon as I get it resolved. Just thought I would share and advise people not to by from them. If you want their price go to another site like bb.com that price matches.

sand weights are surprisngly cheap, the hardest part about buying your own home gym is space and the cost of buying enough plates
