Opinions on a new routine
I've been lifting heavy on and off for about a year, doing sets of 4-5 on squat, DL and bench, with a few support lifts. I love lifting, but lately I've been having a lot of trouble getting motivated, so I decided to drastically change my routine for a while. Here it is:
push ups
wide pull ups
stair lunges
"synergy" type ab routine
all to total %100 failure
every single day
I'm not trolling here, I know this is not going to increase my max lifts, yadda yadda. I'm just wondering, what would be the long term effects of this? I've been doing it every day for 2 weeks, and I feel absolutely yakked, although I'm sure it's just the constant blood flow to the muscles. Everyday it seems like I can do another 2 push-ups, another 3 crunches, another pull up, though. That's forward progress, right?
Are there advantages to this? Disadvantages? If I keep this up for 3 months, what will happen? I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that I like it as much as I do. It's so non committal.
Give me some honest feedback on this, guys. You are the experts.

How many sets of each exercise do you do each day?

1 set each, to total failure.

I don't think you'll see much benefit from this type of training long-term. At least not from only one set.

It seems you are trying to hybrid a good program with a noob one. Don't go to failure with 1 set.

Years and years ago I used to do shit tons of high-rep BW exercises.
I would think if you did each of those exercises to failure once a day for 3 months you'd substantially increase your endurance strength, at least as far as those exercises are concerned. And you'll get a decent cardio workout.
You'll probably be okay recovery-wise doing this every day, assuming you're young and otherwise in good physical condition.
That's my best-guess estimate.
Why are you doing this, if you don't mind me asking?

I think it sucks.

I think it would get boring after a little while. I mean, once you were able to do like 20-30 pullups, how much further can you go? That's just my opinion however.

I'm doing it because I couldn't be bothered to get to the gym. I was just bored, I didn't want to train, didn't like it, and I was down to once a week, if that. So my response was to go in exactly the opposite direction, and now I'm excited about muscle-related activity again.
Is there some kind of plateau for BW exercises, some point where you're strong enough that you body weight no longer offers enough resistance? I could definitely see that with push ups, I'm at about 40-45 right now before failure.
As for it not giving benefit, I'm not sure what you mean by that. Obviously it's not going to offer any strength benefit, it's not that kind of lift. But having done it consistently for a couple weeks it definitely offers "benefit" of some kind. I feel great for one. I look great. Every day I can do more reps. That's not S&P, but does that mean it isn't worth doing?
Are there some tweaks I could make to this to make it more complete? I was thinking about adding some DL, maybe DL heavy once a week on top of this routine?

I think you need to ditch this shitty routine and switch to program that makes you excited about real strength training.
But if you want to do hundreds of push-ups and what not then be my guest.
