A stopwatch.

Do Burpees dude. No equipment, little time, little space, and they will totally rock your ass into another world of pain.

If you already have a stopwatch, buy a skipping rope. Then do some Tabata intervals with burpees, skip rope, another exercise, etc... It will be sure to help your overall conditioning.

But the best way to improve your cardio would be to leave your apartment and hit the streets.

Running shoes would be great, but only if you use them.

I wear mine to the cinema, where i eat massive amounts of popcorn, does that count?

A punchbag would be cool, but the only thing you really need for awesome cardio is a small area of floor on which to do burpees (personally I don't even think the stopwatch is necessary as you can always do ladders). You could also look into getting the Bas Rutten workout cds, I love them and know a lot of other people on here swear by them.

I think just about everything has been covered:

1. Running shoes
2. Jump Rope
3. Bas Rutten's MMA Workout CD's
4. Stop watch

It's actually 4 pieces of equipment but you can easily get all 4 piece for under $150.

If you really want to step it up, here is some other superb conditioning equipment than can be purchased/constructed/obtained for a low cost:

- Sandbag
- Dragging sled
- Sledgehammer
- Wheelbarrow
- Tractor tire
