Your attitude sucks. If you're not in a sport to do your best and enjoy the road, then get out of it.

I think you hit the nail on the head right there.

Well, ironically I haven't been able to post because I've been too busy (not just cause of work, my girlfriend takes up some time too).
I don't have time to make a long response to all these replies (and I do appreciate them, both positive and negative), suffice to say, they all add some interesting points of view.
Without getting into specifics, about a month after the competition, I won't be able to train at an Olympic lifting gym. I haven't competed earlier in the year due to injuries and travel, and so I'm hoping to have the time to properly train and compete this time, before I don't have access to an oly gym.
Afterwards, I do still intend to lift weights & push myself - mainly in the powerlifts, but I don't have interest in competing as a powerlifter (although I have some goals for what I want to do in those lifts).
My main questions are with respect to setting goals, given that I'm not in shape, and that I don't have that long to go (2 months). I simply don't expect to lift beyond my previous bests, since I achieved them when training much much harder. How would you guys go about setting goals under these circumstances?

Wasn't intended to be facetious, but I've competed in Olympic lifting for years, and this is likely to be my last competition (at the very least, for several years). I don't intend to become a fatass couch potato, but I have no interest in competing as a powerlifter, and I'd suck ass at strongman.

You know more about Oly than I do, so I can't really give you much advice on how to prepare for a comp. The parameters appear to be:
- Just back from an injury
- Haven't work out much recently
- No idea where you stand
- Not a lot of time to train
So I would just say train as hard as you can given the circumstances, try a couple of near maxes out a week to 9 days before the comp, to find out where you stand. Use a weight you are sure you can do as an opener.
Honestly, I don't really see the point of a "final competition" if you are out of shape, don't know where you stand and don't appear very motivated.

Long time no see, Alon. I'd offer my opinion on goal setting, but I think it's a personal matter and I'm sure everyone has a different approach. Best of luck in the competition.

What? I'm pretty sure that was his point. You don't have to be the best, but you can still enjoy it.

What were your best numbers? What ballpark numbers are you going to try to acheive?
