Welcome to the challenge, this is an online lifting competition designed to test unusual lifts, particularly those which are often underappreciated. Together these will require brute strength, coordination, balance, flexibility, explosive power and muscular endurance.
The contested lifts are (in no particular order):
- One arm snatch
- Hang powerclean
- Overhead press
- Bent press
- Overhead Squat
- 20 rep squats
- Bench pressing bodyweight for reps
All but the last one are done for maximum weight.
At the bottom of this thread will be an entry form, simply copy and paste, replacing the 0s with your numbers and filling in your stats. Please post in font 'courier new', it looks nice and well formatted.
READ THE RULES BEFORE ENTERING
Thread Rules:
1) All posts must be either an entry or an update of your entry, please type 'update' at the top of any update posts so I know you've already entered.
All other posts will be deleted.
2) You must enter
all lifts, you will be given two weeks after your first post to test anylifts you have'nt done before. If you do not comply your entry will be removed.
3) All lifts must comply with the rules for that lift - see below.
4) For max lifts only true maxes are acceptable, if you have lifted 200 ten times your max is still only 200 - do not use a rep max calculator.
5) This thread is only open to forum regulars, if I don't know you I don't want to see you cluttering up my competition. Sounds harsh I know, but this is run so that forum members can compete against each other, not so someone can come in here and brag about how much they can supposedly lift.
6) Posts in lbs, I can't be bothered to put up with the grief of holding this in kilos or a mixed comp.
7) Max lifts will be scored using wilks, enter your bodyweight and lift (in place of total) into
this, remember to divide by 2.205 to get kilos.
8) No squat suits, or bench shirts. Chalk is legal, straps and gloves are'nt.
9) All entries must use the entry form, it's too bloody difficult for me to update otherwise. All number must be made up of three digits, so leave a 0 in front of any two digit scores, don't remove any of the dots they're there for a reason. The random gaps are not intentional and have just turned up, buggered if I know why.
10) Rules are subject to change as and when I feel like it.
One arm snatch:
- Can be done with a DB or BB.
- Only one hand can touch the weight from the beginning to the end of the lift.
- Must go from the floor to overhead with the elbow locked in one movement, no press out.
- You must then come out of the hole and stand up straight with your arm remaining straight before the lift is complete.
Hang powerclean:
- Barbell only
- Must start from the hang, ie. off the floor at around knee height.
- Has to be caught without the legs bending more than 90 degrees.
Overhead press:
- Can be strict or push press.
- Barbell only.
- Must be done standing
- Knees cannot rebend after the weight has started to come off the shoulders.
- Elbows must be straight at completion of lift.
- No excessive backwards arching during lift, this is not a standing incline press.
Bent Press:
- Can use BB, DB, or KB
- Weight must start from one shoulder.
- Other hand cannot touch the weight from the beginning to the end of the lift.
- Weight must finish at lockout with the body at a minimum angle of 45 degrees to upright, this is not a one arm press challenge, you must actually perform a
bent press.
Overhead squat:
- Must use barbell.
- Arms must remain locked at all times.
- These have to be ass-to-grass, that means full-depth, hamstring touching calves.
20 rep Squats:
- Barbell only, of course.
- No re-racking the bar until you are done.
- 150 second time limit to complete set.
- Squats must break parallel, hips below knees,
no quarter squats.
Bench pressing bodyweight for reps:
- Barbell only.
- Must be full reps, bar touches chest then goes to full lockout.
- No assisted reps.
- No reracking the bar part way through.
- No excessive pauses between reps.
- No bouncing the bar off your chest.
