Louie Simmons and mma lifting program

I recently read an article that Louie Simmons doesn't advise mma athletes to train the conventional Westside model. One can assume he is against it because it would lead to overtraining quickly. I believe the article was on elitefts but unforunately I can't remember which one. Even more frustrating was that the author didn't say what method Louie prefers. Have any of you read an article on what Louie thinks an mma athletes lifting regimen should look like?

Why would you wanna know what Simmons thinks an MMA routine should look like? He's a powerlifting coach so he focuses on powerlifting. It would be better to see articles of Alwyn Cosgrove, Mike Mahler and Charles Staley

I know Louie trained Kevin Randleman for the 2004 GP. Louie is way more than a powerlifting coach, he trains and consults with professional and olympic athletes all over the world. I can only speculate, but I imagine an MMA program would be adapted similarly to Defranco's WS4SB, a program designed for athletes doing a lot of sport specific stuff. He had Randleman doing Javorek complexes with 205 pounds () for some endurance work, I remember reading.

Well curiosity for one, and he just seems to be a pretty knowledgeable guy in general when it comes to strength training.

Yes, if I remember correctly it was a bear type of set with 1 clean, 1 hang clean, then a clean and press. Rest for 30 seconds and repeat. I could swear Cosgrove was the one who wrote this article but I could be wrong. There was also another article, I believe, that the author briefly stated that Louie didn't believe his Westside template was the way to go for an mma athlete. Again, I am just curious if anyone had anymore information on the subject, that's all.

He is a very knowledgeable guy... but I believe he is best consulted for off-season work. Have the other conditioning guys handle pre and in season work. That is why it must always be a team effort
