Too much running?

Is it possible to run too much and it effect your weight lifting/upperbody work?

Lately I'm not tired after running 2-3 miles and feel like I could just keep going. My running stamina has dramatically improved over the past month or two, but my upperbody strength hasn't improved as much as I would like.

I was thinking of going harder with my running (either start timing myself and running faster, or running more miles, or maybe I should start doing more sprints? burpees?), but also at the same time eating more calories and protein and doing more upper body work as well (instead of 80-100 pushups a day I will probably double that, and add 5lbs on all my upper body lifts).

Since this is kind of a cardio topic also I'll post it there too. To the mods: not trying to spam.

You gotta step back and make some goals. You can easily balance distance with lifting, because I have been doing it for over 2 years now. Lately though, I have been running for speed/agility, and stepped up my lifting, all because I determined my goals for the end of the quarter.

You do 80-100 push ups a day? I think that effects your lifting more. How many times a week do you lift? I would reduce the pushups, doing this many of them will lead to overtraining if you do heavy weightlifting IMO

I workout 4-5 days a week, 2days on 1day off.

EDIT: Ideally, I will lift weights in the mornings, run in the evenings, and do situps and pushups all through out the day. Situps in sets of 40-60, pushups in sets of 20-40.

To what end, overGerman? This reeks of fanaticism to me; nothing wrong with that, but perhaps you could direct your energies more productively? Why just push-ups and sit-ups, and not squats? What are your goals? If you wish to improve your numbers on weights, you'll need to let the respective bodyparts rest.

I know exactly how you're feeling; you feel useless unless you have some kind of pump or training effect in motion, but this phase will pass. Let it.

These exercises because I'm getting ready for bootcamp. I plan on signing my military contract within a few weeks.

Good comeback! I guess the push-ups ought to come in handy.
