I've realigned my goals after seeing all these freaky bboy monsters like Kujo and Junior, and so I'm doing this type of stuff all day...

A few questions to anyone with similar training methods:

What in your opinion is the ideal schedule for these exercises? Currently I'm going every day for around 90 minutes - might every other day be more beneficial? Also, is it advisable to go all-out and work at these exercises throughout the day (multiple sessions - I have few time constraints), or should I stick to one session?

Secondly, seeing as I have an old tub sitting on my shelf, will creatine be of any use in building strength with static holds? Ideally I don't want to put much more muscle on, just increase my functional strength.

Thanks for any info and apologies for any ignorance I might be displaying.

He said the guy's weight was "scale breaking". Y'know... seeing as he weighed 135lbs. Teh sarcasm.

That evidence is anecdotal and shaky at best.

Where are the real evidences that olympic body conditioning is the causation of freakish DL numbers?

Gymnastics up in the hardcore levels is a fucking freakish sport.

You do have to have a freakishly strong upperbody and core, but I don't know how they develop the lower body.


And I think i heard that hardcore gymnastics could actually stunt development.

And always remember there are genetics.

There are so many holes in that article I don't know where to start but I'll name a few thoughts that come to mind. In no particular order...

It's all still resistance training. Finding some freakishly hard exercise that uses your bodyweight as resistance yields similair results to using iron as resistance. Imagine that.

135 pounds is not much bodyweight. But the guy is 5'3". That's a pretty similair proportion (in bodybuilding circles) as someone who is 5'10" and 200 pounds. Add in the geometry of the shorter range of motion, etc. and imagine that, a 400 pound deadlift from a national champion athlete in a strength related sport. Still soime nice numbers but let's put it into perspective.

Lots of gymnasts can rep out 50 pull-ups. So it's no surprise that they can do quality weighted chins.

The article sites only a few individual cases.

Sure, gymnastics gives a great strength base. But is it the best choice for cross trainers? Does it deliver the results as fast/effectively/consistently as weight training?

Designing a program for the masses based on the sports performance of a group of elite specialist athletes with particular genetics and who already show success with that program and no control group, doesn't convince me.

Going somewhat OT into a gymnastics vs iron discussion here. I should've left that article out of it and just linked to the video of Junior, which raised nothing but admiration.

The fact would seem to be that iron alone does not result in the capability to do the things that guys like Junior and Kujo can do, which is right now the primary focus of my training. Is there any wisdom available on these boards that will help me get as close as possible to their level in as expedient a manner as possible?
