Why not do DLs if it's just your poor form holding you back? No one wants to be the trap-less man.

Get a video of your form up here for critique.

So basically you were "looking for" one person to tell you what you wanted to hear, and then you go and do what you had planned on anyway? Great thread.

Picking heavy things up off the ground is a basic motion, something that every healthy person should be able to do. This means that (1) if you can't do this properly and pain free, you have a(n) issue(s) that need to be addressed and (2) Pulling heavy weight of the ground is a very important part of any effective strength routine. Unless your an olympic lifter who does tonnes of cleans and snatches this means you should deadlift.

So get your problem fixed and pull some weight.

You might wanna consider switching to doh grip. I have tweaked my back a few times doing dls and for some reason doh grip seems like the most natural for me...maybe it could be different for you but I would suggest trying out different grips; it helped me

Keep in mind, I'm only telling you what worked for me. Grappling and Thai Boxing are my main pursuits, and lifting is just a supplement for those.

I train quite differently from the majority of Power lifters here. More along the lines of Ross' II. If you read his 50 Day Sample, there isn't a single deadlift in there.

Though to be honest, I do kinda miss them though. I was just getting past the 405 goal.
