AH, I hate paralysis by analysis. i've had thoughts similar to what keith wrote in the back of my mind lately. i'm starting school in april and will have a gym and time to train 2-3 times a week on top of bjj. so i've been looking for info and got stuck everything figured out (thank you urban's site) except periodization. i turned to t-mag for info on it and just came up with alot of confusing info. i found linear to be the most easy to understand and implement, but then read an article where a guy just went off on linear periodization and how ineffective it is (relative to other options). it was getting ridiculous.
so as was said, just relax your mind and stick with the basics. i think it should be common knowledge in the S&P community about the basic lifts to do, and the rep schemes associated with them. the last "key" was the periodization, but in a way, it's confusing for the average athlete who lifts to enhance their sport. i like reading urban's site sometimes, and posts like keiths. there is very little jargon, no name-dropping of some "elite" lifter who I've never heard of but suddenly feel ignorant because i haven't heard of them. just basic, solid information that is more than enough for an average-joe to follow. good work you two.
