A Confession and a Question

Confession: Until a few weeks ago, my squatting depth was crap. Somehow, I fooled myself into thinking I was squatting near ATG, but in reality, I was only scraping 90 degrees. I had one of those introspective lifting days and realized my flaw, and it's chaninging now, but it's a grueling process. Just had to get that off my chest.

Question: How do I know when to add weight to DE lifting?

The grass must grow real high where you live. I've gone through similar things with squat depth. Used to think if the bottom of my thighs were parallel, it was good depth.

As far are DE lifting, I keep it real simple. I just use percentages of my max. When my max goes up, so does the DE. Whats more important is that you are trying to move the bar as fast as you can.

Do you do any box squats? If you don’t, you may try experimenting with them. They are the easiest way to guarantee that you hit proper depth.

As for the DE, I also use a percentage of my 1rm. I don’t increase the weight until I feel I am doing each rep as fast and explosive as possible.

I don’t – If I did, I think it might cause a small tremor.

Dude - there is advantages to being fat - people always offer you the last piece of pizza (plus – I probably want it anyway).

Never done jump squats for speed work on squats. I always did powercleans, sprints, and actual jumping (plyos) for speed work. IMO they work you CNS better than jump squats ever could.
