Books on lifting?

While I've been a fan of MMA for some time, about a year ago I finally started training. While I had been lifting for some time, thanks to the FAQ, I realized I had been doing it wrong the whole time.

I'm still not a huge, powerful guy. In fact, in the last year I've only gained about 10 pounds. I was 150 pound weakling, and now I'm a 160 pounds. However, thanks to the FAQ and the advice of S&P, I have VASTLY improved all my numbers on my lifts. I've been lurking the this place (I don't really post outside of the grappling forum) and making tweaks and improvements to my routine, and this forum has helped alot. So, thanks S&P.

Now on to my question. Lately, with school being out (I just graduated highschool and won't start college for another month and a half) and a break up with my girlfriend, I've been taking my training alot more seriously than before. Even in my down time, I've been finding myself visualizing my lifts. So to kill time and help improve my game, does anyone know of any good power lifting books. Like instructional ones or something along that line, preferably with nutrition as well.

I know that this stuff is available online, and that's where I've been getting my info, but I'd like to have something portable that I could read at the gym or while I'm out somewhere.

I know this had to have been covered before, but searching for things like "instructionals" and "books" yields tons of irrelevant results, as you guys get side tracked and make off topic posts often.

And I checked my local bookstore's sports section, but all the books there are about body building, non for oly or power lifing.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe start with a Bill Star google, or WS4SB.

At 160lbs, you just need to eat... more.

It's a pretty lean 160, though. I do a lot of cardio after my lifting, and I've been training 5-6 days a week with school out and all, so any excess weight doesn't hang around much. I get plenty of protein, both through skakes and meals.

Trust me, I'd love to eat more, but I can't really force it. I'm just not a hungry guy to begin with.

While I've never read it, a lot of the regulars on here have good things to say about Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe and Lon Kilgore. That said, maybe I'll pick up a copy myself.

Edit: Doh! SocraticMethod beat me to it

If you get Starting Strength, make sure to get the 2nd edition, which is expanded and geared toward self-training.

Do it. I have only read the chapter on squatting (I'm studying for the bar this summer, so not much time for anything else) and it totally changed how I look at squats. It really breaks down each individual aspect of the lift, and the instructions helped me immediately.

I just checked out Starting Strength on Amazon.

Amazon.com: Starting Strength (2nd edition): Mark Rippetoe, Lon Kilgore: Books

Looks to be what I'm looking for. It's got 100 reviews and only 1 is not 5 stars. Not too shabby.
